Description:
ICD-10 Bill Invoice Maximum service line linking is four (4) - any more will generate an error when the invoices are sent to the Clearinghouse payer. The pointers for 5 and above are missing in the 837 claims file. To state it another way, if diagnosis 5 or above are used for a service line-item, the pointer information will be missing in the electronic claim file and the invoice will fail when it is received by the Clearinghouse.
Solution:
e-MDs will release an update to the software in the future.
Workaround:
Do not use more than four (4) ICD-10 codes in any one invoice being sent electronically
